The application of CBCT in endodontics is an emerging area of increasingly popularity and there is a degree of confusion amongst the dental community regarding the actual benefits of this technique for endodontic diagnosis and management.
There have been numerous lectures where authors present full arch scans with high radiation dose and inadequate resolution to assess the canal anatomy of 1 or 2 teeth, which of course undermines the benefits of endodontic CBCT scans. The key to this CPD session would be to bring some awareness to this issue and to highlight the fact that the Accuitomo F170 machine is the gold standard for small FOV high resolution scans that are required for Endodontic diagnosis and management.
Our guest speaker, Dr Aram Navaicompleted his specialist training at Guy's (King's College London) where he also had the benefit of the Accuitomo machine. He conducted novel research comparing conventional radiography with CBCT for the diagnosis and management of traumatic dental injuries which has been submitted for publication.
