This CPD session is designed refresh your understanding of the rules and regulations that surround Dental CBCT.
Dr Ishmail Badir (Radiation Protection Advisor) will be joined by our Director of Small Volume CBCT, Dr Veronique Sauret-Jackson and our Lead Radiographer and Radiation Protection Supervisor, Ines Contente.
This session will firstly focus on refreshing your core CBCT knowledge before progressing on to a Q&A session on dental CBCT, radiation safety and the legal framework for CBCT.

- The principles of radiological imaging
- The fundamentals of 3D imaging and dental CBCT radiography
- Radiation hazards and radiation protection
- Referral criteria for 3D imaging
- Regulations relating to dental CBCT imaging
- Appreciation of the different diagnostic yield with increased hazards presented by dental CBCT imaging
- Optimisation in CBCT

This CPD session can also satisfy the guidelines surrounding refresher training and that IRMER practitioners and operators are to undertake continuing education and training after the Level One or Level Two qualification. For those involved with dental CBCT, it is suggested that as a minimum, about one of the recommended five hours of verifiable CPD in radiology and radiation protection should be specific to dental CBCT.
