Join Maxillofacial Surgeon Dr Tamer Theodossy as we learn about the limitation of 2D imaging in oral surgery.

Mr Tamer Theodossy is a Consultant Oral Surgeon with 20 years experience in the field of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Tamer did his specialist training in the field of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at University College London Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital. Since 2006 he has been appointed to various Consultant posts around the UK and currently works as a Consultant Oral Surgeon at multiple Private Hospitals in London.

Tamer carries out over 1000 successful cases of surgical removal of complex impacted wisdom teeth per year. He uses state of the art techniques for assessment of each case. His patient management is based on a holistic approach to optimise patients’ oral health.

Tamer is a Fellow of the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is a Member of the British Association of Oral Surgeons and Jordanian Dental Association, as well as being an MFDS examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He speaks fluent Arabic and has published widely in both national and international journals. He is reviewer for multiple Oral and Maxillofacial Journals including the International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Tamer runs a hands-on training course to enhance the younger generation’s technical skills in oral surgery as part of his on-going commitment to clinical teaching and training (tt-os.co.uk/education). He also runs an educational webinar series covering various topics in oral and maxillofacial surgery.

Aims

  • Discuss different image modalities used in Oral Surgery and understand their uses and limitations.
  • Interpret certain radiological features on a plain x-ray and be able to determine if further investigation is warranted.
  • Identify when a CBCT scan is needed to assess an area further.
  • Understand how to format a CBCT scan to extract all data needed from it.
